About Club CyclingClub Cycling provides riders of all abilities and ages opportunities to improve and have fun year-round. We provide clinics, coaching, racing, dry land training and group rides. The road racing season spans March-May and includes racing at schools from CO, UT, NM, and WY, and we are very competitive in Division II. Club Cycling Home Page: Select this link for up to date information on the club! The club consists of men and women, undergrads, grad students, law students, and faculty. Club dues include a custom DU jersey and a membership card which entitles members to discounts at local restaurants and a bike shop. Grab your bike and come ride with us! When asked why they feel their club was chosen as the Club Sport of the Month for March 2008, the club leadership responded, “We hosted our own race on March 9 at City Park (in downtown Denver). It was a huge success as we had all the teams from the conference represented. In the afternoon open categories, we even had a number of pro cyclists come and race! Also, we are having a good start to our race season. In addition, we recently secured a generous donation to buy time trial bikes for the team which will make us even more competitive.” This is the 4th year of the current incarnation of the Club Cycling team. Grant Goerzen, the last year's club president stated, “When we started a few years ago, there were 4 guys who showed up to a race with yellow shirts with DU in red duct tape on the front. Since then, the club has grown by having group rides on the weekends. We also have a few mountain bikers, track riders, cyclocross riders as well as road riders.” The Club Cycling team has 10 week road season from March until May. They travel all around Colorado, as well as to New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming competing against the 13 schools in the Rocky Mountain Cycling Conference. Most weekends they have three races: a time trial, road race, and a criterium. There are different categories for racers depending on ability/experience. If they qualify, the "A" racers will get to go to Nationals in May. Grant stated the clubs goals for the year include winning the Men's National Championship Team Time Trial on May 9 in Fort Collins, to qualify a Women's team for Nationals, and to continue to attract new racers and recreational riders to the club. Amy Secor, the current president stated the clubs goals for next year include winning the Men's National Championship Team Time Trial in Fort Collins, to qualify a Women's team for Nationals for the second year in a row, and to continue to attract new racers and recreational riders to the club.
