Club Sport of the Month for October: Club Tennis

Each month, one Club Sport is recognized as “Club of the Month.” This Club Sport is selected based upon member participation, team motivation, student leadership, and how they represent the Club Sports organization within Club Sports and the university community at large.

October 2008 Club Sport of the Month: Club Tennis

Club Tennis welcomes tennis lovers of various skill levels, creating an atmosphere both competitive and fun. Club Tennis has grown incredibly over the past year.

When asked why she Club Tennis was selected as the Club Sport of the month, Club President Carolyn Davis stated, “I feel that Club Tennis was selected as Club Sport of the month because as a team with have been committed both to the development of our players as well as to the University. The officers this year have been dedicated to the success of Club Tennis and have been focused on its development and competitiveness. “

For the remainder of the year we are focused on preparing ourselves to make and outstanding showing at this year’s National Tournament in April, held in Arizona. The team plans on traveling to Miami, Florida for the IBIS Open as well as to Las Vegas, Nevada for the USTA Intermountain Regional’s competition. In addition they will continue to have matches against schools around Colorado. This April, Club Tennis also plans to host a 2nd Annual Pioneer Invitational, where they plan to have representation from each USTA Section across the nation.

“Our goals are to continue to grow as a club, build a strong foundation for future development, as well as create a strong network of tennis players that exhibit both a commitment to tennis and the team. We are looking forward to future success as well as promoting Club Tennis within the University and across Denver community,” says Davis.
